Q: Is it appropriate to put a belt over or under the leather patch on the waist band of my jeans? (AB, in the store)

A: The question of what is appropriate is really up to the comfort level of the individual. I always cover the brand patch with my belt, as I think I would otherwise appear ostentatious. I don't wear brand labels on the sleeve of my suit jackets for the same reason; inside only.

Oddly, whenever someone else shows a jean patch, especially if it's cool one, I never think it's ostentatious at all. Go figure. But I do hold the line on the suit labels.
